For Families

You want to help. You just do not want to take over. This page is for you.

Adult daughter and elderly mother having a warm conversation at a dining table

Your parent calls. The month ran out before the pension did.

It is a familiar phone call. Your parent needs a bit of help until next month. You give it willingly. But it keeps happening, and something feels off. Not because they are careless. Because nobody ever taught them to manage a fixed income, and the transition from salary to pension is harder than it looks.

You want to help in a way that actually solves the problem. Not just cover the gap this month. This program is one way to do that. Your parent builds a real, working budget. They understand where their money goes. They make their own decisions. You stop being the emergency fund.

This program preserves your parent's independence. That is not a side effect. It is the whole point.

Practical things adult children can do

These are concrete, respectful ways to support without overstepping.

Start with curiosity, not concern
Ask questions rather than offering solutions. "How does your month usually feel by week three?" opens a very different conversation than "I think you need to manage your money better."
Share the program as information
Mention that this program exists. Let them decide. Suggesting it as something that might be interesting is very different from suggesting they need to fix something about themselves.
Offer to accompany, not manage
If your parent wants company at the sessions, that is fine. But the budget belongs to them. You are there for support, not to make decisions on their behalf.
Help with logistics if needed
Transport to the session, printing a document, gathering a few bills. Small practical help that makes participation easier without removing any ownership from your parent.

What your parent actually gets from this

Two sessions. In the first, we map everything. All income, all expenses, everything that moves through their account in a typical month. This is often the first time anyone has done this clearly and completely. The picture that emerges is sometimes surprising, always clarifying.

In the second session, we turn that picture into a working monthly system. Categories, amounts, a simple way to track spending that does not require a spreadsheet or an app. Something they can actually maintain on their own.

They leave with a printed document. Their budget. Their numbers. Their plan. We do not sell anything. We do not recommend any financial products. We help them understand and organise what they already have.

The goal is that they stop calling you for money. Not because the relationship changes, but because they do not need to anymore.
